There are not only heroes in the skies

At the inter airport trade fair, BITO will present their bin & container systems for intelligent order picking.

Meisenheim, 20 September 2011 – The Meisenheim based storage specialist BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH will present a selection of their broad range of solutions in the fields of order picking and bin & container systems at the inter airport, the world’s premier airport exhibition held in Munich from October 11 to 14. At the inter airport, the focus will be on BITO’s competence in realising total order picking solutions from concept to completion, backed by long term and successful business partnerships with planning agents, general contractors and final customers. BITO’s in-depth product knowledge, innovative approach and industry know-how help to make any project a success for their customers, whether the project includes single or multi-tier shelving, pallet racking used as order picking installation or as buffer store, mobile shelving and racking, carton or pallet live storage or an automated installation complete with the matching bins or trays. BITO shelving and racking is already in use at providers of airport logistics and caterers.
BITO Multi-purpose containers are heardwearing but light-weight containers with ergonomically designed handgrips. They are ideally suited for any task in a distribution cycle. Empty containers can be nested to save space and to cut down freight costs. The container series comes in some 250 variations for any application: with lid, security tags, individual marking, inlays for temperature-sensitive transports, connector clips to join two containers face to face to make a double height stacking and transport unit, anti-slip matting, locking system, etc. BITO bins and containers are used by many airlines and airports, also as slightly modified version to meet transport safety regulations.

For big deals

BITO present their innovative heavy duty container series SL on the world’s largest transport and logistics exhibition 'transport logistic'

Meisenheim, 24 March 2011 – At the transport logistic 2011 (held from May 10-13, 2011 in Munich), BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH, the internationally operating storage specialist headquartered in Meisenheim (Germany) will present a new generation of heavy duty containers from polypropylene. The 800x600 mm container for load capacities of up to 500 kg opens up new possibilities in production, storage and transport logistics. The most obvious advantage is that the own weight of this hardwearing allrounder for very heavy duties of up to 500 kg is much lower than the weight of same size mesh box pallets or steel sheet containers, making the new SL86 the ideal container to fulfill lean production requirements. The excellent rigidity allows high stacking loads of up to 1500 kg for dynamic use and 1000 kg for static use.

The trade show is also the ideal platform to present BITO’s longstanding experience and in-depth knowledge as a full service provider in the field of storage, product handling and order picking. BITO is not only strong in designing successful product innovations such as the new PROmotion shuttle, a battery operated and remote-controlled lane vehicle to facilitate pallet handling and transport within a pallet racking installation. Or in making decisive improvements on memory based steering systems for mobile shelving and racking. The BITO team will also present their ability to handle projects from concept to completion. With a strict focus on customer needs and competent advice – whatever the scale of the project or the complexity of the storage solution.

Efficient storage and order picking

BITO present their innovative products on the CeMAT to assist

Meisenheim, 22 February 2011 – The CeMAT trade show, the world’s biggest and leading show for intralogistics held from May 2-6, 2011 in Hannover, is the ideal showcase for the range of new products from BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH, a leading storage specialist headquartered in Meisenheim, Germany.

The innovative product range features an entirely new series of heavy duty containers from polypropylene.

With their PROmotion system, BITO have designed an ingenious enhancement to further increase the efficiency of their static pallet racking system PRO. The PROmotion shuttle is a battery operated and remote-controlled lane vehicle to facilitate pallet handling and transport within a pallet racking installation. Moving unassisted on specially designed guide rails without connection to another carrier vehicle, the shuttle provides continuous in- and outfeeding and assumes stock control functions.

BITO stacking containers, series XL, perfectly adapted to customer requirements

Load capacity 100 kg, complete with injection-moulded dividers

General contractor swisslog placed an order with BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH in Meisenheim (Germany) to supply some 68,000 stacking containers XL sized 800 x 600 mm for an automated small parts storage facility in the distribution centre of an international engine builder. The containers had to meet special requirements: they had to be designed for load capacities of up to 100 kg while base deflection was to be limited to 4 mm – even if ambient temperatures rise up to 40°C. Moreover, most of the containers were to be provided with compartments. The condition here was that the dividers must firmly fit to the container base to prevent items from slipping underneath the dividers into an adjacent compartment. With their stacking containers XL 800x600 mm supplied with a steel plate reinforced double base and injection-moulded dividers, BITO provided the ideal solution. Moreover, the sides have water drainage holes to comply with the regulations for sprinkler environments.

Retro-fitting static pallet racking into carton live storage at Tegut: Increasing pallet racking efficiency at turbo speed

The trading firm has recently decided to carry out an upgrade of its distribution centre with the help of BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH in order to improve productivity. For this purpose, BITO retro-fitted static pallet racking levels with carton live storage flow shelves. The self-supporting flow shelves are simply hooked into slots of the upright adapter profiles which allow this system to be implemented in pallet racking of any manufacturer.

As early as in the 1980s, the product range of the supermarket supplier Tegut Gutberlet Stiftung & Co. in Fulda, Germany, was enlarged by organically produced fruit and vegetables. The organic segment with more than 2.500 products comes in part from company owned subsidiaries and the bakery shop which both closely cooperate with farmers of the Eastern Hesse region.
According to their turnover frequency, the organic products are supplied in static pallet racking levels. In order to increase picking performance of their operators while maintaining the FIFO principle during in- and outfeeding, Tegut decided to upgrade its existing pallet racking from BITO and other manufacturers. Static pallet racking levels were to be retro-fitted with carton live storage flow levels.

BITO Plastic bins and containers have become the red thread that links all logistic processes at Optimal: Flexi-warehousing

The automotive supplier Optimal KG headquartered at Langenbach, Germany, has implemented a standardised bin and container system to allow integrated automation of their material flow. Offering many possibilities for subdivision, bins and containers from BITO-Lagertechnik Bittmann GmbH have considerably improved handling in warehousing, interim storage, in-house transport and order picking in view of space requirement and process reliability.

Optimal KG provides spare parts for axles, brakes, steering and motors as well as other products for motor vehicles. The supplier provides parts and components to the unaffiliated spare parts market from which production partners around the world, original equipment manufacturers and quality suppliers replenish their stocks. Optimal was originally organised as a classic packaging and distribution business, but as their product range continued to grow, the company established several warehouse locations. In 2004, Optimal got into the spare parts business and enlarged their range to suit more than 1.200 different motor vehicle types. After some years, all storage and logistic ressources had been exhausted. Last but not least, the difficulty was that the available 12.000 products are made of 18.000 different parts. For this reason, the company decided to build a new warehouse and distribution centre and to incorporate a packaging service.
